When will watchOS 9 be released?
watchOS 9 is likely to be announced on the 6th of June in WWDC 2022’s main keynote. The announcement will be made online, but specific developers and students can attend the event in person in Apple Park.
After an announcement, Apple is expected to test its operating system over a couple of months before releasing it to everyone in September, similar to what Apple has done in the last few years.
watchOS 9 supported devices
One of the most frequent issues people ask each year is whether Apple will end support for old Apple Watch models. After the launch of watchOS 8, Apple maintained compatibility with all devices compatible with watchOS 7, although limiting the functions of many.
There are rumors that Apple may finally eliminate its Apple Watch Series 3 from its lineup, it’s likely that watchOS 9 will be the last update to the smartwatch of 2017. New features added to watchOS 9
While there isn’t much information about watchOS 9. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman gives a few details about what we can anticipate from the watchOS this year due to speculation regarding Apple Watch Series 8. Here are a few features we can expect from the upcoming watchOS operating system that will be available for Apple Watch, as posted in his Power On newsletter:
Afib burden detection or the ability to track the frequency at which a patient is experiencing atrial fibrillation during a specific time
Low-power mode which works with features and apps that expand on the power reserve. Power Reserve toggle;
Satellite connectivity allows for the sending of short text messages as well as SOS notifications to the emergency service when you are away from mobile connectivity

Our Take
We’re expecting more information about watchOS 9 to be revealed as we get closer to WWDC 2022, which will begin in June. In the meantime, it appears that watchOS 9 is likely to be a very interesting update, with Apple focused on larger screens and more accurate fitness tracking.
